They are still, however, one of the core Overwatch contender since Day 1 of the competitive scene and is always going to be among the top teams of all time.
Atlanta Reign was one of the first two expansion teams added to the season in the Overwatch League. What makes them earn a place on the list is the sheer talent of the lineup they managed to put together in both the Reign and ATL Academy teams since Day 1.
They finished 1st in both the regular season and The Gauntlet tiebreaker and went all the way to The Gauntlet Finals against Elements Mystic.
We are yet to see Atlanta perform in The team is at a constant. London Spitfire is the Overwatch royalty being one of the first competitive teams to grace the league.
Before there was a Spitfire. In a League packed full with South Korean talent, Toronto decided to go the other way and grow the home grown talent instead.
Agilities, Beast, Surefour, Kellex and Nevix all found their home with the Defiant and are looking to prove they deserve to be there.
However, all five of them have some consistency issues and can easily have an off-game as much as a carry one.
To top it all off, Defiant has a tough travel schedule throughout the season and it might prove too taxing on the roster by the end of it.
The Pacific Divison has brutal travel schedules for all teams participating and Dallas is no expectation.
Overall, there are the building blocks of a Play-Offs team in Dallas this year. If they manage their work-travel balance and focus on developing synergy, fans can surely expect their home squad to do well this season.
Guangzhou Charge have impressed immensely so far. This is one of those teams where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Ninth place last year was a little higher than most analysts ranked them but Guangzhou delivered. For this year, they went on a similar path to many organizations and signed nine new players to their roster.
The backgrounds of each individual varies as much as their playstyles, but each individual has immense potential and a high skill ceiling. Based on what we see they are a strong contender for Playoffs in as well.

The Overwatch player base outside of the league has also had issues of toxicity , which Blizzard has been trying to handle through better reporting tools.
In addition to requiring the league players to follow the code of conduct, Blizzard is also watching how these players behavior on off-league broadcasts, and would fine players if they engage in toxic or inappropriate behavior even if not part of a league session, as well as publicizing when the league takes such actions.
After the conclusion of the first stage of the inaugural season, ESPN reported that the revenue projections for the league has exceeded its expectations, with some insiders claiming that the league's revenue was four times greater than initially planned; this was in part through its Twitch streaming deal and new advertisers, such as Toyota and T-Mobile , that came on board a few weeks into play.
Entering the third season, concern had been raised on the stress of the league on its players. Fifty players had dropped from the league during the first two years, with several of them citing the stress the league places on them and mental health issues.
